Last of YW Camp

Elder Lytle was asked to show some things to put into a 72 hour kit. The Stake YW President had read about 72 hour kits and wanted the YW to know more about them. She must have been inspired because 3 days later we had a tsunami watch because of the earthquake in Samoa.




One of the counselors in the Stake YW Presidency helped the YW make enra baskets. These baskets were used to carry their food for dinner. They taught me how to make one and I still have it in my home.

The last photo is of some the girls from the Long Island Ward (my ward) with their finished headbands.

More YW Camp...

These pics take awhile to load up so here is one more. The young women here are braiding the value colors together and then making headbands for their heads. The lady sitting on the grass with the red and black striped shirt is the Long Island Ward YW President. She is demonstrating to the other young women how to make the headbands. Notice how one of the girls holds the beginning of the braid between her toes. I have more pics to load up but it is time to go home now.

Two YW Camps in one year!

I went to my second YW Camp on September 25, 2009. This was the first YW Camp for the Majuro Stake. They only camped one night under the old growth coconut palm trees on the Lagoon side of Ajeltake. Fortunately it was a little cooler on Friday with a some rain, hence the canopies over the tents. A doctor from the hospital was there along with the Chamber of Commerce president doing the translating. The Chamber president is also the Stake Executive Secretary.
